Many of us make New Year's resolutions but don't stick to them after the first month, this leads me to the question of the day. "Is it a waste of time to set goals and plans to only put them on a desk and look at them maybe one other time when doing chores?

Honestly speaking, and this is just my opinion, I feel that making resolutions are a good way to get you back on track with your goals so no, it's not a waste of time if you see them with goal oriented eyes. I have a motto that I have been using for years that I heard once and it is without a plan you will FAIL. I look at things like this, either you fail to plan or you plan to fail and that will be a downfall for anyone who doesn't feel the need to write a vision for themselves. So what during the process you have to start over many times because you fall off. So what it's taking longer that you expected, so what you may not be financially, spiritually, or mentally ready to work on them. One of my favorite gospel songs is called We Fall Down by Donnie McClurkin. The concept is to let you know that we fall down but we rise back up. Motivational speaker Les Brown have stated in a message that if you fall down, do it on your back because if you can look up, you can get back up.

The goal is to get the dreams you have for yourself on paper because they are your desires. Start somewhere even if you read it to yourself daily for a month. It shows that you are working on you and to let you know how the mind works, by looking at your vision you have written for yourself is manifesting within you the things that are going to eventually align.

Try writing them and placing them in a place that you see every day in your home. It will be a reminder of what you need to do. If you have already tried this, make a smaller list of goals that are realistic and obtainable. Make sure you list the details of the steps you need to make to accomplish each goal. A particular goal may have 5 steps and that would be overwhelming if you have 20 things you want to do for the year with several steps for each.

Something that I have learned in my life is that if one thing doesn't work try something else. Don't be so quick to give up. I am a firm believer of being consistent. I have seen how consistency have changed my life. Having a vision board and writing down your goals is a symbol of faith. I have heard many motivational speaks and authors talk about how important is it to write the vision. I am currently reading a book that talks about self-discipline. Once we have learned and mastered this principle, we can accomplish the goals because we would then have a system and routine in place that no one or anything can deter. Get a journal, track the steps and progress you are making. Write down the set backs, what has worked and what has not. Track the number of days you have worked on a task. Celebrate small victories and stay focused. At the end of the day you will have no choice but to win.

We hold the key to our on destiny, all we need is our faith, consistency, self discipline, and everything else will fall in place where it should. Don't be discouraged if something does't seem to be working out, that may not be the plan at that time or heck, at all, however, take a different route. If you are a believer in christ, talk to the good ole Lord to ensure that your plans align with the plans he has for you. You Got This! Be Blessed!
